Yes you read it right. I am talking about “Switzerland of the East- Swat Valley, Pakistan.” It is not just my definition of beauty because it belongs to my motherland but this is what Queen Elizabeth II described it on her visit in 1961.
The place is not just famous for its breathtaking picturesque but also for Malala Yousafzai, A Nobel Peace Prize winner, for her girl’s education struggle against taliban when the valley was taken over by them.
The place has a serene natural beauty. Since the restoration of peace by the Pakistan Army, the place has been reopened for visitors and tourists. It is a perfect destination for hikers and leisure seekers. Famous spots to visit in Swat are:
- Fiza Ghaatt
- Maalam Jabba
Swat is also famous for its unique handicrafts such as:
- Embroidery items
Per capita Income is pretty decent here because most of the natives are involved in promoting tourism, hoteling, fishing, travel and tour guide as well as selling unique handicrafts.
Having such alluring beauty and geographical location, Pakistan is blessed to have a place which offers a great deal in adventure and tourism. It is truly a lifetime experience.
